If RITUAL were able to put together our dream tour and be the opening act, the band I’d want to have setting up after us would have to be He Is Legend. I’ve been listening to these guys for years now, and their evolution has been consistent and relentless. It sounds like Schuyler was born with a bottle of whiskey in his hand and a hand-rolled cigarette in his mouth. He’s got depth and grittiness, but then out of the blue, he’ll croon and win you right over. The band is amazingly tight, and can go from the heaviest face melting riffs to the airiest and grooviest songs.

When they’re done and the crowd is pretty hoarse and sweaty, I would definitely have Glassjaw up next. They’re one of my all time favorite bands and a huge part of my heavy musical education. I love and respect their “fuck it, we’re going to do whatever we want” approach to the band, both in how they’ve managed their career and how they are as a live unit. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to play with them in Paris once with a previous band, and I spent most of the night drinking heavily and trying to sing along to Darryl’s melodies. The matter of fact is that I can’t, but being able to see them every night on tour would definitely be amazing.

And just when the crowd doesn’t think they could endure anymore chaos, I’d have Poison The Well finish up the night. There are apparently stirrings and mutterings of them getting back together, and that would make me beyond happy. There’s a video of them performing at Big Day Out Festival in Australia in 2004 that I continually watched way back when, only dreaming of playing in a band and wanting to be like them. They’re definitely one of the bands that got me into heavy music, and to be able to be out on the road with them, just like Glassjaw and He Is Legend, would be a dream come true.

Keep up with the band on Facebook and Twitter!
