Hey, it’s me…
Royal Republic.
Never heard of me? Well, allow me to introduce myself.
Royal Republic is a four-piece rock band from Sweden. When we say rock band, we’re really more of a power-disco quartet, but nobody knows what that is, so let’s stick with rock band. Our pre-show routine is pretty standard rock band stuff.
Per (drums) and Jonas (bass) usually put on a workout video by Dolph Lundgren. It’s made in the 80s, and while we attempt to do some of the exercises, we mostly enjoy how gloriously 80s it is.
Before the show, Adam (vocals/guitar) is usually on DJ-duty. He has built himself an entertainment case for touring containing a 32” LCD-screen, a PlayStation 4 and a boombox. Adam is a lover of many different genres and because of this, we semi-affectionately refer to him as “ DJ rand-omfg”. He will mix Earth Wind and Fire, followed by Cannibal Corpse, followed by the legendary Mrs. Miller, followed by the even legendary-er Michael Bolton.
Our guitar player Hannes usually sits around with his brand new Sony WH-1000XM3 Bluetooth wireless headphones. Making use of their state of the art-noise cancellation technology (we are open to endorsements), he’s able to effectively cancel out and replace the Michael Bolton/Cannibal Corpse/ Dolph Lundgren party, with the poetic genius of Bob Dylan.
Hannes doesn’t do warm-ups, and he’s always the last to get ready. But also the most energetic on stage, so maybe he’s got it right.
After our show, we usually wind down with more Bolton, which we wash down with a glass of prosecco.
