Royal & the Serpent – FIRST CONCERT EVER

I’ll never forget the first concert I ever attended. Britney Spears – Oops I Did It Again Tour in Atlanta Georgia. I must’ve been 6 years old, and my mom was surprising me for my birthday. I got all dressed up in one of those hot pink scrunchie tops that shrink up when you take them off, a blue butterfly skirt, and some killer baby blue shades to match.

It was a total surprise, so I had no idea where we were headed until the concession attendant blew my mom’s cover!

“Are you excited to see Britney?” She asked as she handed me my soda pop.

In that very moment – I FREAKED. Excited? I was ecstatic.

We proceeded into the enormous venue, and proceeded, and proceeded, until we got to the very first row. I could literally lick the stage if I stuck out my tongue. GO MOM! Six year old me was as happy as she’d ever been…

Before Brit hit the stage, loud thunderous rumbles shook the entire arena. I started getting a a little weary, and out of no where – HUGE fire flames shot from the edges of the stage. I think we were so close our eyelashes could’ve burnt to crisp if we leaned forward even a little. I remember it bringing me to a total teary-eyed meltdown, and how bad my mom felt even though she couldn’t stop laughing.

There’s not much else I can distinctively remember about the evening after that, except for Brit flipping and spinning upside down, and being so close I could see her tush-crack every time it’d pop out of her pants.
