In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the pop rock band, Royals, shares one of their stories from being on the road. You can check out the story, after the break.

Our last run was with our friends in Two Year Break – we have a fair few stories that probably don’t make sense to many other people such as a rant about hating peas, almost breaking our bass on the first night, and crowd surfing a Charlie Simpson cut out covered in merch but what particularly stands out is probably the last night of the tour.
After our last show in Bristol, we took the afterparty back to our hotel room – somehow we had about 15 of us in one room so it’s fair to say we weren’t exactly quiet and after a few rounds of drinks, we had security from the hotel knock on the door. Everyone hid while TYB’s driver answered the door (shoutout to George V) and convinced the man there was only a few of them having some quiet drinks and that we had both rooms next door (we didn’t) so we wouldn’t disturb any neighbours. He somehow bought it and we carried on.
Obviously, it escalated after more rounds, for some reason we ended up playing a dumb drinking game where we ruined friendships by picking our favourite and least favourite members from each band, built a human pyramid in this tiny room for no reason, and then inexplicably Brad was bent over on the bed proving how hard a spank he could take…
Later we open the door to go get some more drinks and we find Brad, pants around his ankles, ass in the air, passed out in the hallway. No idea how long he’s been there. Obviously, we’ve told this guy we’re not having a party so swiftly we wake him up before someone comes along and brings him back in – at 4am we’re then trying to wind things down and we’ve got about 4 people in each bed, two people sleeping in chairs, someone in the bath, etc. Charlie (TYB guitarist) joins us, passes out, and starts snoring instantly, and it’s not quiet. We rolled him, hit him, literally smushed a Mcdonald’s burger into his sleeping face and he didn’t stir, so by 7am we gave up and went to get breakfast.
Maybe not the craziest story in the world, but definitely one of our weirdest/best nights, and still very surprised we didn’t get shut down… but here we are! At least you know we know how to party – can’t wait to do it all again in November when we’re reuniting to play together!

Keep up with the band on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
