Over the last few years, I’ve had the opportunity to play at some pretty cool venues. From NAMM in California to MerleFest in North Carolina. My dream tour would consist of playing with 2 bands who are close to these locations that have influenced my music and lyrics: Switchfoot (from California) and NEEDTOBREATHE (from South Carolina).
The tour would be called “The Together Tour” and it would go from coast to coast starting in California and working our way to South Carolina. We’d have to pass through Nashville, of course, since that’s home to me.
During the days on our tour, I’d want to explore the city, meet the locals, and hear what makes each place special. The more I learn about a place, the more I feel I can relate to the people at each show.
Every night I’d be out in the crowd introducing myself and getting hyped up. I’d be curious to hear the stories of everyone who’s there. If it were possible, I’d find a way to incorporate someone’s story into the show. My hope with this tour would be to bring everyone together as much as possible. At the end of the night, all the bands would gather in the crowd with their acoustic instruments, surround a mic, and sing a few songs.
After each concert, I’d go play an after-show with anyone from the other bands who wanted to join. We’d find a local coffee shop, parking lot, or home, and keep playing. There would be stories told and stories made of what this tour was about.
Finally, when we’re all back together at the end of the night, we’d write a song. The stories we hear and create each day would be the inspiration for the songs we write. Then we’d play one of these songs at the following show. Each of these songs would be recorded live at each show and released the next day so everyone can remember that night as a time we did this together.
