There’s really nothing quite like touring. There are not many things in life that force you to work with the same group of people in the same small space over such large periods of time. It is a truly character-building experience that is equal parts grueling & exhilarating.
If I had the luxury of designing my dream tour I’d have to begin with James Blake. The best live music experiences I’ve ever had have always been when you can feel every aspect of the music coursing through your veins & body. James Blake’s productions are so immaculately pieced together that to really appreciate them you often need to listen to them on the best studio speakers or headphones. So it is no surprise that in a live setting his music takes on an entirely different form. The sub energy paired with his effortless vocals is otherworldly & songs that you presumed to be incredibly delicate ballads suddenly turn into bass-heavy behemoths.
Another band on the top of my list would have to be ‘King Gizzard & The Lizzard Wizzard’. If the name isn’t enough to intrigue people than their show certainly will. Their unique blend of psychedelic is utterly mesmerizing to watch. This is especially true when it comes to their dual drummers who seem to always be locked in perfect synchronicity, it’s hypnotizing to watch.
To close the show out in a true joyous fashion I think I’d have to recruit non-other than Fat Freddie’s Drop. They are my go-to party band, it won’t matter whether you are familiar with the music or not because their infectious dub reggae grooves are undeniable. The powerful brass section paired with long spiraling psychedelic middle sections pull you in and don’t let go, you’ll be locked in their groove for the entirety of the show. Not to mention that the vibe is always so loving and friendly at any Fat Freddie’s show.

Keep up with them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
