Salem Trials Dream Tour Lineup Meshuggah – Meshuggah is a huge influence and inspiration for Baker and Randy in particular, though we all love their music. I (Randy) had the privilege of seeing them with Baker at Metropolis in Montreal on Halloween 2016 and I can confidently say it’s the best show I’ve ever seen. Their performance combined with how killer the sound was and their light show that is perfectly timed to all their different rhythms was nothing short of mind-blowing! It’d be a dream come true to be on the same bill. Kublai Khan – We can safely say that everyone in the band is a massive fan of Kublai Khan and we’d all be beyond stoked to share a stage with them. Their music has such a gnarly primal edge to it that really makes it stand out in the growing sea of aggressive music. 30 seconds into the first listen and you can tell people get hurt at their shows, and that’s heavy as fuck. Silent Planet – Silent Planet is another band that has been a heavy influence on all of us. Their brilliant use of dynamics in particular; how they can seamlessly take you through a journey of ambient passages and thoughtful poetry followed by crushing riffs and raw aggression really sets them apart. Metal can sometimes get monotonous with constant riffs and blast beats so throwing in ambient breathers is something we’re all a huge fan of and try to incorporate into our sound. Barrier – Barrier is a band we (Baker, Randy, and Zack) once shared the stage with before in our old band Here Comes Bigfoot at a show at Hémisphère Gauche in Montreal. Their album Eventide is just chock full of intense riffs and grooves, and the energy is just incredible. They were insanely tight and dialed in live and a lot of fun to hang with, and we’d all love to do it again with Salem Trials.
