My Dream Tour would include Eminem, Kings of Leon, and Bruce Springsteen.
Kick off a Friday night with one of the greatest lyricists of all time, Eminem. I remember growing up and listening to his albums (the radio edit ones mom, don’t worry) and I could just feel the energy. I could feel the power and the pain in his words, and they motivated me. He spoke of being down and fighting to get back up and I loved it. I raced motocross when I was a kid, and “Lose Yourself” was my go-to pump up song.
Night two would be my all time favorite band, Kings of Leon. These guys have done it right. They have adapted well over the years, but have always kept their sound. Their lyrics are so poetic and straight to the heart. I connect so many of the Kings songs to memories and emotions, and I find beauty and comfort in that. Music is such a powerful force, and they have definitely been a huge influence in my life and my music.
Finish off the weekend with The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. I could write for days about this guy. Last year (2016) he played a FOUR HOUR show at MetLife Stadium in Jersey. He is 68 years old! He has won awards, played all over the world, and he STILL gives every bit of himself to audiences every night. His lyrics are real. True to life, honest, and delivered with so much power and soul. “Nebraska” is one of my all-time favorite albums, and I think a few guitar and harmonica songs from that record would be the only right way to end the Dream Tour weekend.
