Sarpa Salpa

In this First Concert Ever segment, the alternative band, Sarpa Salpa, talk about the first concerts they ever went to. You can check out their story, after the break.

Marcus (vocals): I went to see My Chemical Romance when I was 15, it was an insane experience and totally inspired me to take stage myself. My parents drove a friend and I all the way to Newcastle as it was the only show that hadn’t sold out, they waited in the car and drove us home! What a night!
Charlie (drums): The first ever show I attended was Metallica, supported by Machine Head at the O2 Arena. My Dad was always playing rock and heavy metal around the house whilst I grew up, so I’ve basically been a Metallica fan my entire life! The entire performance was top class, from the sheer musicianship to the disgustingly good stage lighting, this was easily one of the best shows of my life.
Ethan (bass): The first gig I ever went to was at my secondary school when I was 12 years old. For some reason a local band, Last Stop China Town were playing in our school hall and I remember being blown away by the loudness and the lights. After that, I was pretty set on being in a band!
George (guitar): I remember the first gig I went to was with my Dad and a couple of his mates. We went to see Foo Fighters supported by Supergrass at Wembley Stadium way back in 2008 when I was only 12! It was an astounding show, I’ll never forget the ringing sound of guitars as the band took to the stage before breaking into “The Pretender”. It was one of the first things that made me want to pick up a guitar and has stuck with me to this day. They also had Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones come out on stage and join them for a rendition of Zeppelin’s track “Ramble On” to top it off, which was an experience in its own right! I’ve seen probably well over a hundred bands at this point, but Foo Fighters are still up there with the best.
