Scream It Like You Mean It Tour – REVIEW

On the Scream It Like You Mean It tour, it brought The Air I Breathe, Mod Sun, The Color Morale, I See Stars, Chiodos, and Breathe Carolina to the Bottom lounge in Chicago. You can check out our review after the break.

The Air I Breathe opened up the Chicago date of the Scream It Like You Mean It Tour at the Bottom Lounge with a bang! The Bottom Lounge is a very reputable venue with fantastic sound and a very spacious floor. The Air I Breathe played a very solid set that had fans off their feet.

Next up was Mod Sun and he started off his set with his single “Time to Celebrate”.  It was a little strange seeing Mod Sun on the tour, seeing as he is a hip-hop artist, but nonetheless he still played a great set. Everyone got into his music and jammed along. If you like hip-hop music, be sure to check him out. I’m sure you’ll dig him!

Our hometown boys, The Color Morale were next to hit the stage (well, they’re actually from Rockford, IL…close enough). They played a bone crushing set with melodies and heavy breakdowns. I have been following The Color Morale since they first started. They actually used to be called The Killer Apathy if you didn’t know. It was nice to see how far they’ve come as a band. Throughout their set the fans sang along to very word that came out of Garrett’s mouth. Strange enough, they did not have a bassist on stage (the bass was backtracked), since John had left the band and Justin moved over to guitar to take his place. Nonetheless, the played their set very tight to where you couldn’t even tell the difference.  The Color Morale played a very solid set combining songs from their first album “We All Have Demons” to their latest release “My Devil In Your Eyes”.  They are one of the most promising bands from Illinois.

I See Stars came on stage and the entire crowd began to pack in. Their lead singer Devin Oliver pumped up the crowd. The band played a great set with catchy riffs and heavy breakdowns. During their set, Devin Oliver got the crowd going wild and he even crowd surfed. Energetic is the only way you can describe their set,

Chiodos has been a band that has been around since my middle school/high school days. I felt like I was a 14 year old again.  They played a very solid set and their new vocalist was amazing. Their sound and style has a mellow and melodic sound while still bringing heavy breakdowns. Although I’ve known the band with Craig Owens as their front man, their new vocalist did a great job bringing his own style and talent to the table. It’s great to see bands like Chiodos still around gaining new fans while keeping their old ones, like me.

Once Breath Carolina took the stage, the entire venue felt like it turned into a giant club. Their show consisted of music with multiple genres from hardcore screams to dubstep /techno.  Their lightshow was phenomenal. They had strobes, lasers and even a disco ball.  They had fans jumping off their feet and singing along to every word.
