Here we are again. 5 days into our tour with Corelia and I, Omega and I’m sitting on the back bench in the van trying to recover from the various injuries that I have already accumulated. I was tackled when I jumped into the crowd in St Louis and threw out my shoulder. I was hit in the back with a guitar in Oklahoma City. I blew out my knee in Tyler, Tx. I remember being 18 years old and these things not phasing me at all, but as I get older they seem to stick with me longer. My body may be upset with me, but all these injuries make me want to do is push harder, go crazier, and be more confrontational on stage. This is punk rock after all. It’s not supposed to feel good.
Injuries aside the tour is great. We had no idea what to expect when we accepted this tour, but we are extremely happy that we’re out with these bands. I, Omega drives the most ridiculously entertaining van that I think I’ve ever seen. We were standing in front of the venue in Oklahoma City when a van that is entirely covered in animal paintings and a “Dolla Dolla” hood pulled up. I looked at our guitarist and said “If that’s I, Omega then we are going to be best friends.” It was and we are. Corelia is just stupid talented, so it’s been a blast thus far watching them every day. They may be the headliner, but this is their first tour ever so it’s definitely been fun watching them learn what life on the road is like. They become more and more weathered every day. It’s awesome.
So far, the tour has been fairly uneventful. We played a nightmare of a festival in Tyler, Tx. 18 year olds with preposterous amounts of money should not assume that they can run a festival. We started drinking at 11am and stole just a preposterous amount of food from catering. It was also interesting watching the once gigantic headliners cope with playing to an empty arena.
And so the madness continues. Onward to Roswell, New Mexico. I hope we see some aliens.
