My first concert experience that I remember making a huge impact on me was when I was 12 years old. I grew up in a small town in western Massachusetts that had this multiple function memorial hall building. It’s where you voted, paid taxes, saw a movie, and the occasional concert. On one evening Martin Sexton was passing through for a performance. Sitting on the balcony watching his performance was the moment I knew magic was real. I saw a man with a guitar and his voice captivate the audience for 2 hours. About an hour into the show the power went out because that old building was not designed to power sound equipment. Martin didn’t miss a beat. He just stepped in front of the microphone and filled the hall.
That was when I picked my career path. I want to use my voice to bring people together.
