In this Preshow Rituals segment, the Finnish rock band, Shiraz Lane, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

Hannes (our singer) is the only one from us who starts to prepare for the show even before the soundcheck by doing a little stretching and some vocal warming up. For the rest of us, the preshow rituals start at the soundcheck. A good soundcheck is essential if you want to have a really great show.

After the soundcheck, each of us has their own rituals. The atmosphere is kind of laid-back but just a tad tense at the same time usually. Normally when we are together we talk a lot, but when the clock goes on and our show starts to get closer, the room gets more and more quiet. I think everyone is mentally getting into the zone so none of us wants to have a lot of small talks etc. I usually do some pad exercising for like an hour before the show and stretch some muscles. Then right before the show I jump up and down, and do some pushups just to get the pulse up and blood flowing.

When our intro tape starts to roll we are gathered on the side of the stage just about to run to the stage and start the gig. At that time, the atmosphere gets more happy and excited and usually, we just throw in some high fives and shout out curse words or “lets fucking do it” or stuff like that at each other.
