Hey Everyone! Kyle here! First off I just want to take a moment and say thank you for reading. I am going to make this as interesting to read as possible. So let us begin with the journey that is November 6, 2013…
Oddly enough, today was our first and only day off on tour. We played an awesome show last night at Mojoe’s in Joliet, IL. Our first time there, and we can only hope to return soon. Beautiful venue. Since we knew that we had a day off today, we decided to make some plans for the day ahead of time. One of our good friends highly recommended we visit a museum in St. Louis called the “City Museum”. Despite its straightforward name, this place was the complete opposite of that. Truly unlike anything we have ever seen or experienced. There are caves to climb through, 10 story slides to whip down, and so much more that you just have to see for yourself to believe. After hours of fun and horseplay at the museum, we built up quite the appetite. We quickly decided to swing by the local galleria mall before we got food. It was gigantic, and it was a mall, none of us bought anything. Moving on…
Touring is not only great for sightseeing and playing shows, but it is also a great opportunity to experience the best local foods in each city and town you visit. Given, we don’t always have the money to try it all, so of course we have to resort to cheaper options at times. Tonight, we decided to go to the closest Denny’s. What a gigantic mistake that was. Once we were seated we must have waited approximately 20 minutes before our server even came to our table in a restaurant with only 2 other tables occupied besides us. When she finally approached our table, we knew we had the worst server ever known to mankind. With that being said, we are very patient and understanding people. We like to joke around just as much as the next guy, but this was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. Once we placed our orders, our server returned to our table on 3 separate occasions, sarcastically reassuring herself of our orders. Each time, she was completely wrong. She didn’t have a care in the world about us, or about her job. That was made clear from the moment we walked in and she told us how she, “doesn’t like to work”. We’d had enough of it, eventually leading to us getting up and walking out after confronting her about it. We have never had to resort to that, but it was literally that bad. Thankfully, it was a great choice, because it lead to us having some of the best barbecue we have ever had at the award winning Pappy’s Smokehouse in St. Louis. We highly recommend eating there if you are ever in the area, but get there early because it’s popular and it’s first come first serve.
Here is the address of the Denny’s that you should NEVER eat at:
1515 Hampton Ave
Saint Louis, MO 63139-3038
United States
After enjoying delicious barbecue at Pappy’s, we have made our way back into the van to finish our drive to Springfield, MO for our fifth show of the tour, tomorrow at the Outland Ballroom. We will more than likely be enjoying some American Horror Story Coven on the ride there.
Tour is always such an adventure, and thus far, this tour has been exactly that. Grateful to be on the road with people and bands that we love, and excited to see what lies ahead. It has been amazing to see the response people have had to our new album SKELETONS that we released last week as well. Kids have already been screaming the words back to us from new songs, and we are completely humbled to be able to perform for them every night. If you haven’t gotten the new record, be sure to go check it out and pick it up if you enjoy what you hear!
We will be posting two more tour blogs right here on the Digital Tour Bus website. Expect to see a blog from our guitarist Todd, and another from our drummer Doug within a few days! Thank you for reading! Love you all, and hope to see you soon!
