My first concert ever was Backstreet Boys in my home state of Connecticut. I was such a fan as a kid (still secretly am haha). My mom surprised me with tickets and I was overwhelmed with excitement. I remember we had lawn seats, which I was a little disappointed about, but I was just happy to be there. Throughout the concert, I kept plotting a way to get closer to the stage, but unfortunately, I couldn’t come up with any promising ideas.
Nick Carter was my favorite Backstreet Boy. As weird as it sounds, I thought about him often and couldn’t stop talking about him with my friends and family. My bedroom wall was covered with BSB band posters, and my closet was full of their band t-shirts. Nick and I have the same birthday – January 28th, and when I found that out I felt like I connected with him even more.
My favorite songs by the Backstreet Boys were “I Want It That Way” and “Larger Than Life”. They were my anthem. They were constantly on repeat, and I know my mom at one point or another was annoyed by the repetitiveness. But I guess this was all to be expected from a young girl, fangirling over the most popular boy group at the time.
