Sol Cal – TOUR TIPS

This new set of Tour Tips was written by Nashville-based band, Sol Cal. You can check out their tips for being on the road, after the break.

1. We have spent most of our time on the road in the south. This being the case, it’s important to remember not everyone is your long haired, doobie smoking soul sister or brother. A little vigilance goes a long way to avoid an “Easy Rider” kind of situation with the locals. Hide your contraband in really good places or have a “go to” guy in whatever town you frequent.

2. Don’t wear flashy underwear. Stick to solid colors and models if you choose to wear any at all. If it is striped, starred, covered in Zebras or Marvel Superheros, everyone is gonna know your keyboard player has a nack for misplacing his draws.

3. LEAVE ON TIME. We’re a slow moving group of dudes. Stress is the number one killer. Avoid it at all costs.

4. Don’t have six members. That’s way to many mouths to feed!

5. Leave the technology at home. Part of being on the road is learning how to adjust to a wild and crazy kids lifestyle. Leave the normal people with normal jobs and their normal drama at home. There is no better time to think, talk, hang and enjoy your surrounding environment than when you’re in the van with your homies. Hard to engage or contribute with a cell phone or iPad glued to your hands.
