Sonic Syndicate – TOUR PRANKS

In this Tour Pranks segment, the rock band, Sonic Syndicate, share some pranks that have happened on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

It’s Aug 12th, 2015. We’re playing Summerbreeze in Dinkelsbuhl, Germany. Forty thousand people have filled the grounds and we’ve got the most sought-after slot of the festival, what we like to call “The Twilight Hour”. This is approximately 9PM. The daylight has faded enough to set the mood but the air is still warm from the summer sun, the crowd are hyped from the other bands and drunk enough to be buzzed, but not so wasted they forget what they’ve just seen. Perfect.

Robin, Michel and I celebrating in our caravan-like dressing room structure, each band gets one. Inside there is a fridge full of beer, vodka, and Monster. But it’s too hot in there, it’s like a sauna. We dump our gear and get the hell out to go hang in the Sofa area outside in the sun. I’ve cracked a can of monster and mixed some vodka in, but I trip on the grass and spill it. Within seconds wasps have surrounded the area. I am NOT exaggerating. It was like something out of the bible. The whole site was filled with swarming wasps. In a total idiot move, I went to our fridge and opened four more cans of Monster left them outside the neighboring bands dressing room who are still inside! Once again wasps descend, there are hundreds of them. A few minutes later they open the door to try and get out, stamp on the cans, wasps go everywhere. One guy runs back inside and locks the door, the other guy takes off screaming and running. On reflection, I think that was a real bad move, but damn it was funny.
