My first concert ever at 4 was a surprise! My mom and dad told my brother and me we were taking a road trip and didn’t tell us where. Of course, we most likely thought Disney World or a waterpark, but nope, it was to go see Dave Matthews Band. My dad and mom were huge fans and played their album Crash a million times. My brother and I, not so much, because we were kids. We obviously had to pout about it for a while, but eventually had an amazing time! We sat on the lawn, so it wasn’t too crowded, and we really got to just take it all in. It was a great first experience, and now I love Dave Matthews Band, so it all worked out in the end.
My dream tour is: opening with America, letting the sweet rhythm of Americana and ’70s acoustic plucking sing. Next, we have a sharp but welcome vibe change with Radiohead, softening back down again with their dreamy electronic elements but then ramping up to their alt-indie sound, making for a smooth transition to the next act, Nirvana. They get everyone really riled up, moshing, screaming, and contemplating our government. Beginning the final act, Billy Joel sings an extended version of "Piano Man" with added modern lyricism, letting the crowd digest their feelings in a healthy way. Once everyone gets back to ground zero—BOOM! Fire releases from the stage, revealing Bob Dylan and Frank Sinatra in matching fedoras. They jump onto the piano and sing each other’s most popular songs as a duet. Final act, Freddie Mercury and I duet "Bohemian Rhapsody," with Elton John on the piano (of course), letting people contemplate their entire existence and how we affect the world with our mortal shells. People will leave stunned and shaken up with every emotion in the book.
