Speaking With Ghosts

In this Tour Tips segment, the metalcore band, Speaking With Ghosts, give you their tips for being on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1. Baby wipes. You need to have these in order to stay fresh and clean for yourselves while you’re gone for extended periods of time.
2. Snacks. We always have a huge bag of snacks that seems like it would last a long time, but generally lasts us like 2 days.
3. Deodorant. Adds to the baby wipes thing, you don’t want to smell horrible in a van full of your friends for longer than you have to. (Jokes on you, it’ll always smell horrible.)
4. Toothbrush and toothpaste. Make sure that you can do anything you can to at least feel clean, and that way when you meet people, you’re not making them pass out from lack of hygiene.
5. Don’t drop your trailer in a ditch. Enough said.
6. Entertainment. Make sure you have some good Netflix shows downloaded to your phone. We luckily have a DVD player built into our van so we can watch movies, but other escapes are our Nintendo Switches that we bring on the road. Mario Kart is a godsend.
7. Clothes. Make sure you have a place to put the dirty ones to separate them from the clean ones. It’ll make all the difference in the world. (RYAN)
8. Pillow. Bring one because it’s not easy to sleep with your head on the windows.
9. Legroom. Make sure everyone can sit comfortably. More legroom = sanity.
10. Coffee. Cheap coffee can keep you awake and make those long drives safer for everyone.
11. Always bring a compass and some firewood. (RYAAAANNNNN)
12. Save any food you can. Don’t throw it out the window because you’ll want it 2 minutes later and wish you had it.
13. If you can drink, make sure you keep your wits about you. Don’t leave your friends to load by themselves and don’t puke everywhere.
14. Above all else, have fun. You’re traveling around with your friends (sometimes your local state, your region, the nation, or even internationally if you’re lucky), and not many people get to do what we get to do. Meet people, spend time sightseeing, and don’t let the trip be just about driving and playing music. Eat at weird places and stop on the side of the road in the mountains to admire the view.
