Show days are usually busy for us whether we are on the road or playing at home. While on tour, we typically don’t get much time to venture out and see the city so we like to eat at local spots as much as we can. We pretty much judge a city by their food. Haha. Other than that, we are all music lovers with very eclectic taste so we try and turn each other onto to new music that we are into. It usually turns out to be us talking about new ideas for songs or things we should try when writing music. We sit and analyze songs and draw inspiration from them. That’s where we get all of our rad production ideas. Oh, we also take a few minutes right before our set to stretch a bit and huddle up to pray.
The day of a home show, we chill together at our studio. We make sure everything is tight and ready to go. Sometimes we can be procrastinators and throw together a set last minute. It’s nice though because it keeps us on our toes and adds a little spontaneity to our live set. We also get a bunch of calls and texts from family and friends trying to get into the show or wish us luck. Looking good is always crucial so we make sure each other’s clothes and hair is on point. Cori (bass) is always pretty strict about that.
Live shows are a huge reason we are musicians but we really don’t do any warm ups. We get that out during soundcheck. We like to conserve our vocals and energy for the stage. Leaving it all out there sounds cliche but it is so important to us. We have had good shows and bad shows and we have realized that the bad shows usually start to go bad when we think and worry about it too much. We realize we need to focus but also we need to go out there and do what we do, have fun and give it everything. It typically goes well if we stick to that.
