Star City Meltdown – 1st ROAD BLOG from their “Summer Tour 2012”

Star City Meltdown is on their U.S. Headlining 2012 Summer Tour. While on the road they will be writing periodic blogs for us. The first one can be read after the break.

Hey guys. Cody from Star City Meltdown here.

I’m sporadically nodding off as I type this, sitting in the front lounge of our bus while it rolls towards Atlanta, Ga. We headlined a show last night in South Carolina to a great crowd, and after having drinks with everyone and loading the trailer, we didn’t settle in for the night until about 5am. While everyone else settled in for the night, I sent off the final mixes from our upcoming label debut to Memphis, Tn to be mastered and did some promotion for the free single download that we’re currently offering to you guys and our upcoming music video release June 25th.

Headlining tours consist of massive amounts of work, but the end result is always very rewarding. This tour has been no exception to that rule, but we’ve had our share of completely unexpected disasters, and really crazy situations.

We kicked off the first night of this tour in Mississippi, and threw down in front of an amazing crowd who liked to party almost as much as we do.  The venue actually had a huge swimming pool and outdoor bar where we were able to have a shot or thirty and play volleyball with all the fans that came out. After hanging in the pool and getting our inner “Michael Phelps” on, we got some quick rest, and then hit the road headed for Tallahassee, Fl.

While headed to Tallahassee, our bus broke down leaving us stranded on the side of the interstate for almost 9 hours while we waited to get towed into a repair shop. The tow truck that was originally sent out to pull us into the shop broke down on its way over to where we were sitting. After finally getting successfully towed into the shop in Pensacola, Fl, we had to wait three days for the parts we needed to be delivered and for the repairs to be finished. We spent our three unwanted and unexpected off days drinking cheap beer and making new friends on the Pensacola Beach. I spent WAY too much time in the sun without sunscreen, and now I completely look like a lobster. (Rock Lobster perhaps??)

We finally got back on the road, and just in time to throw down with our South Carolina fans. It’s certainly been an interesting start to a headlining tour, and tonight only marks the end of week one. Stay tuned, because I’m going to be giving all you guys another update from the road very soon. I’m finally ready to try and get some sleep before the show tonight. Chris is still asleep, so I’m headed to wake him up and take his spot in the bed. (Maybe I’ll tell him that someone stole his guitars. Ha!)

Cheers!
