The Stolen – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

A crazy moment on one of our tours actually happened a couple years ago. We had a show in Connecticut then one in Rhode Island the next day, we crashed at a friend’s house in Connecticut and left in the morning. About 20 minutes into our drive we noticed a bunch of smoke coming from our front left tire so we pulled over immediately.

We spent the next hour trying to figure out what the issue was, who was going to help us, and how we were going to get to the show. While a couple of us waited with the van, Mike(drums) and Kevin(bass) walked up the road because they thought there was an auto part store/mechanic. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to find anyone to take a look at the van or parts to fix it. All of a sudden I see this truck coming down the road and Mike and Kevin jump right out, they hitchhiked back since they walked like two miles up the road.

After an hour or so, we were able to have our friend come pick us up and get the van towed to a mechanic to get it checked out. Turns out the problem was with our wheel bearing and if we kept driving our wheel would have fallen off and the van probably would’ve flipped. So good thing that didn’t happen. We still had enough time to make it to Providence once we dropped off our van so we took our friend’s car up to Rhode Island to play an acoustic set.

We had a show the next day in Boston but no way to get there. Our van was still in Connecticut so we rented a car and squeezed everything we could in it and drove all the way to Boston to play the show. After the show, we had to head to back to Connecticut and crashed at our friend’s house again since the van was getting looked at and hopefully fixed.

Turns out the mechanic was not able to fix our van so we decided to take matters into our own hands and fix it ourselves. We got it towed back to our friend’s house and as the tow truck driver took the van off the lift, he didn’t put our van in park and it rolled backward into our friend’s house. There wasn’t a lot of damage which was good. After that, we spent the whole day fixing it and we were finally able to get back on the road. Looking back at it the whole situation was hilarious but at the time it was completely insane.
