Sucker Punch - CRAZY TOUR STORIES
Join us as Sucker Punch shares a crazy story from touring.
In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the pop punk band, Sucker Punch, shares one of their stories from being on the road. You can check out the story below:
This one isn’t exactly a tour story, but it’s a story about us all traveling together and getting up to some fun and sketchy situations. Before we rebranded back in 2019, we had our founding member, Andy, move from NJ to VA. We were determined to figure things out and still make the band work. In order to do so, we planned a little trip to meet somewhere halfway-ish so we could take promos, practice, and hang out, all in preparation for a new release. We booked what, at the time, didn’t seem like a terrible hotel in Baltimore, MD.
We all start to arrive, and while we wait, the lobby of the hotel is nothing out of the ordinary. There’s some sort of party going on down the hall in one of the designated party rooms, people walking in and out of the sliding doors—exactly what you’d expect.
Things start to get a little sketchy as we begin loading our gear and bags into elevators. We all take multiple trips up and down, each time encountering some characters. The most memorable one for me was a woman walking into the elevator with a baby in one hand and a full drink in the other.
While walking down the hall to our room, we see doors wide open with people partying and smoking cigarettes out in the open. Siiiiick. We get settled in our room and start setting up to take some pictures. A few of the guys go downstairs to smoke and get some air. They don’t come back. Twenty to thirty minutes go by, and still nothing.
We go downstairs to find them, and they’ve made friends with the hosts of the party I had mentioned earlier, which turns out to be a group of people from Iboli, Nigeria. They had welcomed us all in with open arms to drink and dance with them. After a little while, we share some beers and take pictures with our new friends, then go back to our room to continue having some drinks with the boys and get our business done.
Nothing too crazy, but it remains one of my favorite and most memorable times spent with the band.
