Suns of Thyme – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, Jens Rosenkranz of the Krautgaze band, Suns of Thyme, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

It is 2016, which means Suns of Thyme was founded 5 years ago. The way we prepare for shows has changed over the time. In the beginning like most bands, we drank and smoked before we went on stage. But soon we realized we weren’t performing as good as we could be. So we decided to go on stage sober pretty early on. Tobi stopped drinking alcohol years ago anyways. Our music isn’t “alcohol music” after all, if you compare it to the great alcohol bands like Guns N’ Roses for example.

Whilst we love playing our songs to people, the greatest joy lies in our fans enjoying the show, not ourselves partying, that is just a bonus. We try to stay relaxed before the show. Some of us meditate or read a book, take a nap or walk around.

But there is one thing that we always do right before we go on stage. We stand in a circle arm in arm and tell each other to have fun out there.
