SWIMM – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the indie band, SWIMM, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

Chris and I used to be really into dream traveling so we’d take a nap in the van before the show and go back in time to hang with some of our idols. We’d frequently visit Freddy Mercury & Marc Bolan. We’d usually just jam for a bit and they’d give us advice on our set list and wardrobe. This was definitely my favorite pre-show ritual until the one time we did an obscene amount of ketamine with Stevie Knicks. We both fell into a k-hole and missed our entire set.

Our latest pre-show ritual is to meet in the green room about 10-15 minutes before we go on. One of us will pick a random location that we’re about to play, for instance, our last show was in Florida but we decided we were in Paris about to play a sold-out show at The Bataclan Theatre. Then we do some deep breathing together and visualize a massive crowd of people with sunflower heads swaying to the music. After that, we usually take a shot of tequila and head to the stage. -Adam
