In this First Concert Ever segment, the pop group, SZNS, talks about the stories of their first experiences with live music. You can check out the story, after the break.
AUTUMN: The first show I ever saw was Justin Timberlake FutureSex/LoveShow at the Staples Center when I was eight? I think? I definitely remember I had never seen so much torso before but more importantly I had never seen dancing like that before. The spectacle of the whole thing really stuck with me- JT if you’re reading this, thanks for the inspiration.
WINTER: My first concert was Destiny’s Child, Simple Plan, and like three other upcoming artists at the time. What a lineup, am I right?? My 7-year-old brain could not comprehend how iconic of a moment. Crazy to look back now and say that my first concert was seeing a girl group, and now I’m in one! I had so much fun and my momma held me on her shoulders the whole time so I could see perfectly. And after the show, Simple Plan had an open meet and greet. So my mom stuck me back on her shoulders and the lead singer, Pierre Bouvier, came up to us and gave me his guitar pick. Still have it to this day. Looking back, that concert is where the bug bit me.
SPRING: My first concert was Justin Bieber in San Diego, California. He was amazing. His performance made me feel so inspired watching him jump from instrument to instrument with ease. He moved the crowd and made me feel so emotionally connected. I knew in that moment what I wanted as an artist was to give that same connection through music to people.
SUMMER: My first concert was Avril Lavigne and I just remember it lighting a fire in my 8-year-old heart thinking I wanted to be just like her. I’m still in love with that woman she’s the most badass performer and I’m so glad I had her to look up to as a kid.
