I remember my first concert being Bowling For Soup and Soilwork. I truly can’t remember if Soilwork was there but I do remember being handed a free CD to listen during the show. Obviously, my mind then was pretty scattered with the stimulation of being at a concert for the first time but I remember it making a huge impression on me.
The other thing I think happened at that show was Bowling For Soup playing a cover song of Ice Ice Baby. Again I can’t tell if this was my overactive imagination or if this actually happened or it was Vanilla Ice singing it but it was curious enough to both confuse and entertain my mind it seems.
Lastly, I remember telling myself that I would play the Riverfront Center in my hometown of Alexandria, LA and make my show so much cooler because when I was growing up all I could think about was improving the experience. Obviously, I was void of all understanding of how much it would cost to do what I had in mind… All in all, it was a weird montage of experiences. I didn’t end up playing the Riverfront Center the way I wanted to instead I played a gala for a charity event that was definitely special but it was not my imaginative teenage mind coming to fruition, probably for the better.
