In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the rock artist, Ted Poley (of Danger Danger), talks about one of his crazy moments from touring. You can check out the feature, after the break.

I was once held by British Customs and not allowed to enter England due to fraudulent work permits issued by a shady promoter.

I got to England without incident, walked right up to the officer, handed him my work permit and thought everything was fine.

He went back to his office (never a good sign) and when he came out he told me that the numbers had been taken from another document and I had 2 choices, go home or enter with a mark on my record and drive back (3 hours each way) the next day with the proper work permits or face deportation and not be allowed back. I knew that the bad promoter wasn’t going to get the correct paperwork.

I told him, in that case, to babysit me, I wasn’t going anywhere. The promoter had my money and I wasn’t going home until I had my cash.

So he did. He left me and the band standing behind the “line” for 4 hours while jet-loads of people passed us, snickering at the long hair guys and knowing that we weren’t being let in.

After about 4 hours of this bullshit, a new guy came on duty, turned out that he was a fan and let us in, asking me to please just be careful and don’t get into trouble while you are here.
