It’s always better to brew your own beer. It’s a lot cheaper and there are less preservatives in it, which means less hangover and better performance for the shows. Wine is also a good way to go. You don’t have to keep it cold and it gets the job done. Plus it’s good for your circulation, your heart and doesn’t mess with your vocals if you sing.
If you get a cooler and grocery shop then food can be a lot cheaper and healthier which also means you will be in better condition to play. It’s extremely easy to try and eat out all the time but it’s going to cost you some heavy coin and you’re gonna feel pretty rough after awhile. It’s really important to stay on top of your health as you can get worn out fast if you don’t.
Getting enough sleep can be extremely important and difficult on the road. Melatonin and ear plugs seem to work for me. Remember you’re on the road with 3 or 4 other people and sometimes it’s easy to get at each other’s throats. So being well rested and keeping up with the humor is key.
If you tour with another band you can share the cost of gas as well as share equipment which means less gear to haul around on the road.
LAST RULE!! Do not party on your day off cause it’s easy to get super wasted and be hung over as hell for the next day or two. All of these can make for a better tour and overall better shows. Let’s face it that’s the whole reason you go on tour in the first place.
