The Noise Tour 2013 (Powered by Journey’s) feat. Marianas Trench – REVIEW

We recently attended the Chicago date of The Noise Tour 2013 at the House of Blues to see Marianas Trench, Air Dubai, Ghost Town, and DJ Protector. You can check out our review of the show, after the break.

The Journeys’ The Noise Tour: Face the Music featuring Marianas Trench, Air Dubai, Ghost Town, and DJ Protector, brought all these great acts to a sold out show at the House of Blues in Chicago.

First up was DJ Protector. He turned the venue into one huge dance party. People seemed really into his music and he got the crowd pumped for the bands to come. If you haven’t heard his mixes, then you really should. He will have you dancing the night away.

Up next was Ghost Town. I’m not going to lie, when they first came on stage I wasn’t sure how to feel about them. They definitely have a twist on a regular band with their presence and lyrics. With songs such as “Tentacles”, “Monsters”, “You’re so creepy”, and a song called “Trick or Treat”, complete with a doorbell sound in the beginning of the song, Ghost Town is not your average band. Their music, however, is not dark or creepy at all. They were upbeat and exciting, and I was surprised how many people knew the lyrics to some of their songs already. The lead singer reminded me of a young Jonathon Cook from Forever the Sickest Kids, and even though this band seemed to be young, they made the stage their own. If they came back I would go see them just to see how they’ve progressed, and to have a good time.

Air Dubai took me by surprise because I had never heard of them before tonight. I only hope they get more popular because they put on a great show. They were amazing. Motivating the crowd to “Get extra crazy”, they played “Soul and Body”, “All Day”, and “Lasers”, among others. Even though they had a few mic problems during the set, it didn’t stop them from showing the crowd a good time. You can bet that next time they are here, I will be there as well.

If you have ever seen Marianas Trench before, you know that they don’t just put on a show, they give you something to remember; they have more theatrics than anything. Their set started off with a video and throughout the set during certain points, the lights went out and the next scene would play, introducing the next set of songs. Every song played, the crowd could be heard over Josh Ramsay’s voice. I am still in awe at how quickly Marianas Trench has become a favorite among people in the U.S. I remember when they first came to Chicago two years ago with Simple Plan and the people there already knew the words to their album which had just dropped that day. Every time Marianas Trench has come to the Chicago land area they talk about that night, how thankful they are, and how much they love Chicago for that. This was the last stop on the tour and they said they couldn’t think of a better place. Leaving it all on the stage with songs such as “Desperate Measures”, “Stutter”, “Celebrity Status”, “Shake tramp”, “Ever After”, “All to Myself”, “By Now”, “Beside You”, “Fallout”, “Good to You”, “Haven’t had Enough”, “Porcelain”, “Toy Soldiers”, and others , they never disappoint. Next time Marianas Trench comes to your area, do not, and I mean do not, miss out because they are really something to experience.
