The Tips – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the reggae rock band, The Tips, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

Jay:
Back in the day, we used to smoke a whole bunch of weed and drink all the beer in the backstage. Hanging out and drinking beer with the other bands too.

Nowadays, we’re a little quieter and chilled out. I warm up and drink a lot of coffee. I fill the time smoking cigarettes and checking over my equipment.
Just before we go on stage, we always high five!

Ali:
Most importantly, I always tighten all of the screws on my guitar, so nothing falls off!

Usually, I chill and grab a few beers and take it easy before stage time. Before we get on stage we sometimes scream at each other and jump up and down to warm up. Finally, the all-important high five!

Faf:
When we get to the venue I usually like to say “Hi!” to everyone involved. It´s really nice to meet new people and have conversations with the other bands playing or the promoters, whilst sharing a beer.

After the sound check, I usually grab something to eat, hang around and always watch the other bands playing to get into the groove. Then it´s a bit warming up backstage, High Fives, and GO!
