The Venetia Fair – 2nd ROAD BLOG from their Victorian Halls Co-Headline US Tour

The Venetia Fair is on their Co-Headline tour with Victorian Halls called “It’s Too Late You’ll Soon Be One of Us”. While on tour they will be writing periodic blogs for us. You can check out the second one after the break.

Tour blog.  What a funny thing that is.  Touring is commonly described as a journey made by performers or an athletic team, in which they perform or play in several different places.  Right now, I’m sitting in a tin box with the rest of my band writing songs.  I don’t think you could call that touring.  I like to think of it as practicing.

So I guess you can call this update a practice blog.  We were supposed to be touring, but due to a “professional” doing a “bad” job we were left with no choice but to cancel the few dates we had left on the tour.  It was a hard decision to make, but in the end we knew that there was no way to salvage the rest of the tour.  Victorian Halls and the other band felt the same way in the end.  Sorry everyone.

But on a good note, we loved hanging out with the other bands, and we had a good time at the few last shows.  Heres some highlights:

We got to the show at Ground Zero in Allentown NH early.  About 4 hours early.  So did the other bands.  We spent those four hours doing a few different things:
-Shooting a pellet gun through the walls of our trailer.
-Shooting a hole through Chris’s wallet and destroying his credit cards.
-Drinking.
-Mike and I (Joe) kissed a gay man.  He said I was a better kisser, but Mike is better looking.
-I bought 7 Tom Hanks movies and the hit “American Poop” for $20 at a used DVD and video game store.

Also I played Starcraft.

The show was only decent.  We had a few die-hard fans come out.  It was a pretty last minute show.

The day off after this show was Mr. Chark’s birthday.  This birthday was spent at a favorite bar of ours called Maddies.  We all got heavily intoxicated.  Heavily.  There’s video of the whole night luckily, so we were able to piece together what happened.  Apparently at one point in the night Chris decided he really wanted a black eye, so 7 people, including all of us in the band, lined up and punched him really hard in the face.  We wanted to practice the next day, but Chris was too hung over, and too injured to move.  So injured in fact that he couldn’t chew food.  He also was pretty busy cleaning up the bed that he threw up all over at Ben’s house.  Also the puke that he hid under the mat in the bathroom.

We played our last show of the tour in CT.  We had our lovely crew of fans come bring us Taco Bell (Thank yous.)  We showed up to this show pretty late.  We were all feeling like shit, especially Ben.  He was sick.  Or something.

We got to the show and had heart to hearts with our friends in Victorian Halls.  When I say heart to hearts, I mean that they came into our van, and we drank.  We also made jokes about how their bass player was black (its okay though, he’s cool with things like that.)

The show was pretty good, and the staff at the venue was very good.  Toquet Hall in CT is a good place.

We drove home pretty miserable that it was the last day of the “tour” and we all fell asleep.  I’m not sure how we got home, but we did.

We rented a storage place behind a liquor store and decided to finish up writing our full length.  Those songs will be good.  I suppose its not the “ideal” location due to the fact that 1) it really is only close to my house, and 2) it is behind a liquor store, which is not good for productivity or our health.

So the next month and a half will be spent in this metal box writing songs and drinking and hopefully not becoming too depressed.  We’ll see you all soon on our next tour.  We’re hitting some places we haven’t played in awhile so make sure you check out our facebook for dates!
