My absolute dream tour. Where do I even start? I tend to float within the adult contemporary pop and indie pop genres. The artists that capture me tend to evoke deep emotional responses to either the lyrical content, melodies, or bold and often unconventional musical and sonic choices.
Hands down my biggest musical inspiration would be Florence and the Machine. There is so much to like about her. The confidence, the quirky artistry, the soaring choruses, and powerful vocals. When I listened to her second studio album ceremonials, every song took me through a powerful emotional journey. Florence’s hymn like melodies also tap into my interest for certain types of classical music structures, like Gregorian chanting from artists such as Hildegard Von Bingen.
Labrinth, where do I begin. I fell in love with Labrinth’s beautiful music when he released the track Jealous in 2014. I love how he transports you with his craft, taking you back to your individual experience through his lyrics. And most recently his euphoria soundtrack! The power of these songs accompanied by his unconventional structural forms with avant-garde beats ensures that he is on high rotation on my playlists.
The third artist on my dream tour would be Sia. When I started singing the very first song my teacher suggested was “Breathe Me”. Sia’s powerful voice, minor chord progressions and the overall melancholy dark feel captured me. Placed over the top of catchy pop beats, her songs have continued to make me want to sing them.
Lastly, I would add in Evanescence for some goth pop vibes. Dark moody lyrics combined with Amy Lee’s raw vocal power leaves me feeling every moment of their songs. I must admit if I could hear “My Immortal” live, I think my musical dreams list would be well and truly complete.

Keep up with her on her website, Instagram and Twitter.
