Tim Myers – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the singer-songwriter, Tim Myers, talks about some of his crazy moments from touring. You can check out the feature, after the break.

I’m definitely a studio rat and love writing and recording in the studio so it’s rare that I hit the road. In the last 10 years, being off the road I’ve written over 1,000 songs and have been lucky to work with some artists like James Arthur, Capital Cities, and Phillip Phillips, so I’m not on the road very often. But when I do hit the road, it’s a great escape to get out of the studio and have some fun. With my new solo radio single, “Lover My Love” going across the country and visiting radio stations, seeing new places and meeting fans is one of my favorite things to do and I’m really excited to tour this new solo album and hit the road more!

When I was playing with OneRepublic there were definitely some funny and interesting touring moments. When we were starting off and touring the first album, Dreaming Out Loud, we didn’t have very much money or tour support. We were going all around the country like many bands do in a van and doing the classic starving musician thing. So often times we could only afford one hotel bedroom. There would be five guys in one tiny hotel bedroom!

I remember one night at a show in Northern California, we came back to the hotel room and it was pretty dingy. There were two beds and we’d have to pair up, two to a bed and someone would have the roll away. I remember one night I made the mistake of pairing up with Zach, the guitarist. Zach likes to wear nothing, but his whitey tighties in bed.

The guys were making jokes as I asked Zach to put on PJs or something, but he said that’s what he likes to wear to bed. I remember going to sleep and waking up in the middle of the night to Zach cuddling up on me. I gently would nudge him over to his side, but he kept coming in for the spoon. I’m sure he was used to cuddling at night with his wife, but spooning with a grown man in nothing but his whitey tighties wasn’t my thing. So I decided to sleep on the floor that night and the rest of the tour!

I’m definitely looking forward to some crazier tour moments with my new album. With my song this week going to #5 on the Billboard Dance Charts (which I’m in shock and freaking out over) hopefully none of the new tour moments involve being spooned in whitey tighties.
