Tip 1 – Make sure you take water with you. It’s so easy to forget to have the basics with you on tour and going thirsty sat in a van is never fun. We normally take our refillable water bottles and then a pack of waters as safety just in case. Nobody wants to be paying those petrol station prices.
Tip 2 – Make time for yourself. Whilst living in a van for weeks with your best mates is one of the greatest experiences, we do all need our own space and time. Make sure you have your headphones with you so you can zone out or when there’s some free time take yourself for a walk.
Tip 3 – Try to eat healthy. Now, this is a hard one as you’ll mainly be in and out of service stations or trying to live on a budget but if you can be healthy, you will feel ten times better for it.
Tip 4 – Take a pillow with you. There are times you’ll want to close your eyes and having your own pillow gives you that bit of comfort you may not have. Failing to do so you’ll only regret it when you see your mate sat across from you snoozing away.
Tip 5 – Have fun. It’s so easy at times on the road to forget that the reason you are there is because of your love for music and playing live in the first place. Even if a show doesn’t feel as good as others just remember we’re lucky to be playing the shows and the audience have come to see you put on your best performance.
