In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the progressive metal band, Torture of Hypocrisy, shares one of their stories from being on the road. You can check out the story, after the break.
Ok, so we came to Warsaw / Poland to play this gig in the club. There were some supporting acts and most of the crew were hanging out on a backstage. One of us was standing in front of the stage and when the supporting band was finishing, he concerned why the rest of the bandmates are not coming out from the backstage to play a show. He wanted to shout everybody out, but after catching a doorknob it appeared that the whole backstage was locked! Guys started to force the door and the club crew just stayed and watch because they didn’t hear a bit because of noise from the stage.
Another gig was placed in Kaunas / Lithuania. The day before, we had a party with some decent drinks and sauna in a very beautiful place, in the forest near the Polish/Lithuanian border. Everything was so perfect that our guitarist Tomasz forget how the parking lot looked like and his trip to get luggage from his car ended with a huge flip over one of the small decorative walls. Things turned to be serious as he broke the big toe and the next day gig was under the question mark because he couldn’t stand on a foot or even wore a shoe because it was so swollen. In the end, he played in huge pain and switched pedal board buttons with a barefoot.
One of the gigs was scheduled for Prague / Czech Republic. On the same show was playing the BIG BOSS which is a band of Jiří Valter who is a founder of the Czech branch of Satanic Church. Our drummer Rafał and guitarist Tomasz were in the backstage, doing some warm-up and Tomasz started to talk with Jiří. While chatting over the Jiří’s table, Tomasz exaggerates with gesticulation and overturned one of the ashtray cups that were full of cigs and some unidentified liquids. The whole slush spilled across the table and some of them on Jiří himself. The situation was pretty messy and only what Tomasz heard were some quiet curses coming out form the guy. The seed was been sown…
