I’m currently sitting in the bus lounge. I’ve got some free time, so lets recap. Last night we were in Seattle, which is my birthplace. It was HOT AS FUCK in this venue called, El Corazon. Pretty cool venue when theres a bunch of people in it and there was a great turnout. The crowd was really fuckin’ loud, and I didn’t wear an earplug in my right ear, which was a stupid mistake. I could feel the ringing in my ear and barely could hear anything for the rest of the night. It was probably a top show for us, since I have been playing with the band. People were crowd surfing, moshing, jamming out, screaming, sweating and all having a great time. It was a rock show.
We haven’t had anything really crazy happen thus far on this particular tour. Although, last week we did play a state fair and the petting zoo was pretty interesting. They had some BIG fucking farm animals at this fair. It was also great walking around the fair, meeting some fans, and riding a few rides. Kenny (drum tech/stage manager) and I rode the zipper, that was kinda scary. Also, Dylan (drums) and I road this HUGE ass 8 person-spinning swing that was almost terrifying. So… I was feeling tough and decided that I had what it takes to climb the expert side of the rock climbing wall. If you succeed, you win $100. One try, no touching the wall, just the climbing pegs. I seriously thought it looked easy, and I consider myself somewhat athletic, and also very lanky. I went for it, and didn’t even make it 3 feet off the ground. I couldn’t believe it. I thought for sure that I could do it, but it was no joke. My hands already hurt from trying for the next grasp, and failing many times. No cash prizes for me.
Aside from the typical tour antics that come with the territory, the best part of it is just being out there with your brothers, your road family, the people you live in one room with for many weeks at a time. The bond that forms is nothing that can be faked, or replaced. I enjoy every minute of this journey. I wake up relatively early, take photographs everywhere I go, and I try to experience as much as possible while I am in new places that I otherwise would never have a reason to go to.
Until next time, thanks for reading. Hopefully it gets more interesting!
