Anyone who know us knows we’ve been touring for many years now. That said, several wild, crazy and zany things have happened to us over that time. But if I must pick just one particular incident to talk about, I’m going to go way back to the old school. When we first started out as Twiztid and signed with Insane Clown Posse we were given the opportunity to join them on their tours as support.
In hindsight, it was more or less like on the job training lol. I mean, we knew how to rock shows we just had no idea what it was like to actually get on a bus and go from state to state, night after night and do this. It took an extreme amount of conditioning and building stamina to get where we are today. Keep in mind when we first started I weighed over 320lbs and was knocking on the door of almost 400lbs at my biggest. But enough about that … let me set up the story as I am horrible with dates, times, and details…. you sons a bitches are in for a treat hahaha.
So it’s like the late 1990s or something, Monoxide and I were touring with Insane Clown Posse as I mentioned before. I believe they were touring in support of their “The Great Milenko” album still, I have no idea what the name of the tour was … big surprise there. Anyway, we were playing a venue like any other night in a city inside of a state, lol and the backstage area was a mad house. In those days we toured with a lot of crew and bands at any given time so to say things could get a bit crazy is an understatement. Before too long the house was packed and it was time for me and Monoxide to hit the stage and do our thing.
When we hit the stage there is some kind of magic that happens! It still happens today, but back then we still really didn’t understand it. Monoxide would run around the stage yelling and rappin and I was so fat and out of shape, I would plant myself in the center of the stage and scream my lungs out. Wow, those rookies were sooo fresh… yes I’m talking about us, fuck bag, and I haven’t even got to the crazy part so strap on your helmet and continue reading! We had been about 2 maybe 3 songs deep into our set when out of nowhere comes Shaggy 2Dope from Insane Clown Posse with a fire extinguisher. We both looked at each other like “what the fuck is Joey doing?” and just kept on with our performance.
Shaggy stood on stage noddin his head to the beat then out of nowhere he just starts dumping the whole fire extinguisher on the stage, us, and what appeared to be the first 2 or 3 rows of Juggalos in the crowd. Now this is by no means no fucking science class or no shit like that but when you spray a fire extinguisher it kills oxygen and leaves yellow powder everywhere. The first row of Juggalos passed out and the folks behind them started to lay foward and pass out on their backs … OMG, it was fucking crazy! If it was a test of some sorts Monoxide and I passed with flying colors. We were professional as hell. I rapped along with the song until it was Mono’s part then I stepped to the side of the stage and puked and went right back into the song without missing a beat. Monoxide and I were completely antiqued and sick to our stomach after leaving the stage but it was things like this that to this day keep us quick on our feet and living that “the show must go on” mentality.
Keep up with the band on Facebook and Twitter!
