Twiztid – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, Jamie Madrox of the rap duo, Twiztid, shares what he does before every show. You can check out his rituals, after the break.

The road can wear you down. Yes, it’s true. I’m sorry it’s not all the glitz and glam that the media can make it out to be. Don’t get me wrong, it is and can be an amazing thing as well, but let’s face it, doing the same thing day in and day out can become very monotonous so finding ways to stay positive is always welcome.

My preshow rituals are very true to my personal character being nerdy and OCD that is. First things first, normally when we get into a town, city, state, area we are playing or staying in I have somebody check for comic shops for me and sports card shops for Monoxide. What can I say, hobbies help pass the time lol. If there aren’t either of those or any collectible toy shops either, the next shit on the menu is a mall… the mall … the best mall! Not that shit mall that nobody goes to anymore that’s overrun with kiosks that sell digitally scanned photos on coffee mugs and shirts… you know the one that smells like old people and have tumble weed blowing down the isles cause it’s a fucking ghost town… yeah I don’t go to that mall… no never!

After a trip to the good mall to grab an Auntie Anne’s Pretzel and stretch the ol’ legs a bit I hit up Subway for lunch. I never sleep much at night so I have a ritual pre-show-sleep aka the PSS then it’s up an hour or so before stage time to start getting ready. Gotta have good tunes… my music taste changes from tour to tour but something that’s gonna get me hype while the Twiztid transformation begins. When we are all ready to rock shit the final preshow ritual is called “ShowDaps” we give them to our entire crew and everyone we see on our way to the stage but the rule is that the last “ShowDaps” before the show starts are between me and Monoxide – rituals hahaha.
