The Used’s “15 Year Anniversary Tour” – GALLERY + REVIEW

The Used’s 15 Year Anniversary Tour came rolling through Chicago last month with supporting act, The New Regime. We were there to catch all the action. You can check out our review and gallery, after the break.

This past Tuesday, The Used came to Chicago to kick off night one of their two-day stay here for their 15 Year Anniversary Tour, of their self-titled album and In Love and Death. Tuesday they performed their self-titled album and Wednesday they did In Love and Death. I was fortunate enough to get to go to their Tuesday show and relive how it all began.

Opening for The Used, was The New Regime. Ilan Rubin is the front and back man of this band. This was my first time seeing him with his project, The New Regime. They played songs from his latest album, Exhibit B, such as “We Rise, We Fall” and some from his earlier work. Ilan got the crowd ready for the rest of the night. He was super energetic and was all over the stage the entire time. After this tour, he will be supporting Muse on their world tour.

The Used, playing their self-titled album in its entirety had everyone singing from the moment they took the stage until they left.My favorite part of anniversary tours is the fact that you get to hear every song off the album, including songs that you may have never thought would otherwise have heard live. It’s definitely a different kind of experience being at an anniversary tour. The energy itself from the band and crowd is incredible. These are fans who have stuck around for 15 years, who have known the band for 15 years, who have waited 15 years for this opportunity to be a part of a show such as this. “I believe music is a kind of religion,” said Bert to the crowd at one point during the set. I agree with this especially after feeling the passion in everyone’s voice that night and the nostalgia that came with singing along to all their songs. Even though most of the crowd seemed to be in their 20’s and older, multiple mosh pits occurred, and crowd surfers emerged. For having been around for so long, The Used, know how to command a stage and keep a crowd going. Before ending the night, Bert thanked the crowd again and told them, “Here’s to another beautiful 15 years.” Cheers!
