Vagrants – FIRST CONCERT EVER

In this First Concert Ever segment, Jose from the post-hardcore band, Vagrants, talks about the first concert he ever went to. You can check out his story, after the break.

I think it was around the beginning of 2009, I was probably 12 or so. I was already really into music, always watching live videos from festivals and such on YouTube, MTV, etc. I had missed out on seeing my favorite band at the time, System Of A Down, when they came through Pensacola the year before and I was super bummed about it. Needless to say, I was ready to have my first live concert experience, and probably didn’t shut up about it after that!

For Christmas, my dad surprised me with tickets for him and me to go see Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World, and Against Me! (WHAT A STACKED LINE UP), and it was on! I remember being so pumped the week leading up to the show, and when the night finally came I was ready to rock. For whatever reason, we were running behind and we were rushing to leave to drive all the way across town to the venue. We finally arrived, just in time for doors and then we realize… the envelope that had the tickets in them was empty!

Long story short, the tickets had somehow fallen out of the envelope onto the driveway back at the house. After racing home and finding them, we were able to make it just in time to catch the last few songs of Against Me!’s set. I honestly couldn’t ask for a better first concert; Foo Fighters had just released “Echo, Silence, Patience, and Grace”. It’s a night I’ll always remember!
