It’s 14th January 2016.
With the world still in mourning four days after news of his demise, David Bowie hijacks the Internet and worldwide television channels with a live feed. His intention is to make an announcement.
Appropriately dressed in his bedclothes from the Lazarus video, his eyes are covered with bandages and buttons.
Cities descend into eerie silence as traffic stops and people stand still in the streets, mouths open in utter disbelief. Wide-eyed people stare at their screens waiting for Bowie to say something.
Stood in front of a huge backdrop of the Blackstar album cover, eventually, after what feels like an eternity, he speaks.
After a brief but cryptic summary of what he has experienced in the beyond, he announces his return to touring. He’s taking Blackstar on the road in what promises to be an eclectic celebration of life, death, love and music.
In the following days, there is no promotion for the tour, it doesn’t need any, it’s all anyone is talking about. The only follow-up is the appearance of a website called ‘The Villa of Ormen’ which announces the tour dates.
There are shows in all the major cities across the world, each billed as a daylong festival of art and music.
The list of support acts reads like a who’s who of great songwriters; Radiohead, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, The Cure and even a frail Leonard Cohen announces a special appearance to promote his forthcoming final album.
Even with the actual act of resurrection in the name of art, there is one final even more improbable detail that leaves the masses with one question of their lips….
Who the hell are Veins?
Well it’s our fantasy, so we’re definitely playing!
