When we were approached by DTB to conjure up a list of artists/bands we would place on our dream tour lineup we quickly realized that a thorough brainstorming session would need to take place. The following is the lineup Vintage Talk came up with that would quite literally make our entire lives complete.
For those of you reading this who don’t know who we are or what we sound like, imagine the soul of The Head and the Heart mixed with the simplicity of Bon Iver and that is roughly our sound [check out the feature below to actually hear our music].
Now that you understand our sound we can jump into our dream tour lineup. First up on the set list is The Shins. Talk about a band that brings out the party and dance in people while at the same time completely veering away from the classic electronic sound of today. The Shins would open up the show to set the vibe for the night and get people pumped to hear more great music. Of course, they would not be allowed to open for us unless they played “Turn On Me.” Not that we would ever be in a situation to turn down The Shins opening for us, we just love that song.
After The Shins played (and we were done fangirling backstage) The Head and the Heart would take the stage. One of Vintage Talk’s favorite things about The Head and The Heart is their ability to make the furthest audience member feel engaged in the show. Most people have been to a live venue where the music is great but the band might as well be playing to a brick wall. The Head and the Heart has mastered not just the music side but the performance side of live music. With their many hit songs including, “Lost in My Mind” and more recently “All We Ever Knew,” every audience member would be on their feet completely enveloped in the sound and great energy of the music. If The Head and the Heart ended by playing “Rivers and Roads,” the transition into Fleet Foxes would be almost seamless.
With their incredible three and four part harmonies, Fleet Foxes are a huge inspiration to Vintage Talk. Possibly as unique and groundbreaking to the genre of singer/songwriter music as Bob Marley was to reggae, Fleet Foxes are a staple band that Vintage Talk would love to gig with if not just to pick their brains on their songwriting process. After they put on a kick-ass set full of silky harmonies, unique instrumentation, and one-of-a-kind percussion, Vintage Talk would take the stage to close out the night and hopefully send people home talking about how they had never been to show with such an iconic lineup and great vibes.
