We Are The Union – 3rd ROAD BLOG from their Summer Tour with I Call Fives

The punk/ska band, We Are The Union, from the Detriot, MI area is currently on their summer tour with I Call Fives, Handguns and The Story So Far. On this tour, the band will be writing periodic updates for your reading pleasure. The third of those updates is available after the break.

Day 6

We got up and went to a local coffee shop with Krissy. Coffee mug, gonna clear away the haze and whatnot.
We headed to Moe’s for burritos and chips, and then to Guitar Center for strings and picks. Guitar Center is one of the most mind-numbing places on the planet.
After we were all finally ready for tour, 6 days into tour, we drove to Greensboro to the Somewhere Else Tavern.
Despite the venue being a little strange (dogs running around inside), the show was pretty awesome.
After our set, we packed up and all three bands headed to what would be our last Sheetz visit in quite a while.

Day 7

We woke up the next morning and drove straight to the venue in Charleston. After we loaded our merch in, Weber fixed the air conditioning in the van! We have AC for the first time in WATU history! So stoked.
Despite having pretty weak South Carolina experiences in the past, the last two shows we’ve played in that state have been really amazing. If anyone from this show or the West Columbia show we played back in April is reading this, thank you!
It’s always a really awesome feeling to have people going nuts and singing along to all the songs in places where we haven’t had that type of reaction before.
We drove to Savannah, GA with I Call Fives and stayed with our friend, Danielle. She hung out with us on her porch until 6 or 7am, despite having to be up for work at 11 the next day. Rage.

Marietta, GA
Day 8

Marietta is always a weird town to play. The turnout was really good this time, though, and playing to new people is always awesome. A lot of people hadn’t seen a band with horns before. I’m stoked we got to be their first. Hopefully they’ll all start listening to real bands with horns now.
After the show we decided to drive eight hours through the night to Tampa and go straight to our hotel for the next night and try to check in early.
Sleeping in the van with AC is so awesome. We’re officially spoiled.
