One funny tour story happened a few years ago before I was doing my solo music, and I was playing guitar in the band Lime Cordiale. I’ve had so many funny moments with these guys, this occasion is one that was bizarre.
We were in Santa Fe, California. The venue was pretty obscure and we didn’t expect many people to show up, so as a result, we made serious use of the drinks in the rider. It’s so easy to indulge a little when the sun is shining and you’re on the road with your mates, it almost feels wrong not too after all the infamous stories from bands in the past. Kind of like a right of passage.
Our singer Louis, got a little out of hand and started rubbing foamy toilet soap all over his face and quacking like a duck pre-show. I then filmed him whilst I pushed him down the stairs, and poured water all over his face as he lay in fetal position. Some might view this behavior as weird.
Things got even crazier after the gig, one in which there were some bizarre dance moves, and even weirder guitar solos. Between every song the beer flowed. Our small crowd hid at the edges of the venue, watching a group of madmen attempt to play music. Politely clapping after each song.
After only just managing to make it off stage, we posted band stickers on literally every square inch of Santa Fe, climbing on each other’s shoulders to get them on high street signs. Then we returned to the hotel and started doing rap-offs in our bathroom. Which ended with one of our friends being fully rolled up in toilet paper. Like an Egyptian pharaoh in an intense rap session.
The rest of the night is a blur. No one knows what happened. Or maybe I just can’t tell you.
