YEAST – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the indie pop band, YEAST, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

First of all, the four of us gather in our lodge. We need five to ten minutes alone, together, to focus on what’s going after. Our manager often comes to warm us up at this moment. We grab a drink, laugh, talk about the show upcoming, or yesterday’s show, or tomorrow’s.
Then one of us, most of the time Leo, the singer, grabs a phone and plays one of our tunes. We start singing altogether, the four of us. It is actually a good exercise to do for a band in which everyone sings at least a little. For months, it was always our song « New Home », because it’s the one we start the show with. But lately, we changed to a song released a year ago, « Holy Chapter », because the chorus was pretty hard to sing, and every occasion to practice was valuable!
Once we’re done, we just sit there, or go around in a circle in the lodge, waiting for the director to call us to play. Most of the time, a moment comes where we barely talk, we keep quiet, just thinking about the show, about the energy we’re going to spit out on stage, about what we are going to share with the audience. It is a peculiar moment because we all start feeling the same thing, the same excitement, the same vibe, and mood. At this very moment, we are ready to go on stage, as one.
