YONAKA – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, Theresa Jarvis of the alternative rock band, YONAKA, talks about some of their crazy moments from touring. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1) We supported Killing Joke, who invited us on to the bus after the show. Myself (Theresa) and George (guitarist) thought it would be a good idea to hide in one of the bunks and take some selfies, as you do, but I don’t think it went down too well because we all got thrown off of the bus. BRILLIANT. However, it was ok because the next day, Jazz Coleman invited us back on and even introduced us all to his volcano vaporizer, so that was nice!
2) After a gig in our home city of Brighton, we were all feeling pretty great so we snuck into a party at the Grand Hotel along Brighton seafront. It all got a bit blurry, we eventually lost each other and went to bed. The next morning, we found Rob (drummer) passed out with half of his body hanging out of our front window, covered with soil from the plant pot he smashed on the way in.
3) We were in Ireland and had just played a gig. We rushed back to the hotel to stock up on some Guinness’ so our Tour Manager, Olie, could join in the fun. On the car journey, we were driving along listening to Kendrick Lamar and started dancing in the back of the van. Probably going a bit too hard, Rob’s ancient, smashed-up iPhone comes flying out of nowhere into my face – blood gushing down, I see red (literally!) and start yelling at Rob. Intervening, Alex (bassist) tries to pin me down but in my last attempt to get my own back on Rob, I launch an oven-fresh apple pie straight into his face. We’re still the best of friends, though, ad we made up over an awful fried breakfast on the long ferry ride the next morning.
4) Alex is a real loose cannon; he always uses up all the Wi-Fi because he is batshit mental.

Keep up with the band on Facebook!
