I love telling this story & it feels even more relevant now, but that will make sense at the end! My first ever concert was at a festival called “Hangout Fest” in Gulf Shores, AL. near where I grew up. I went with my high school friends back in mid-May of 2019 after we had all just graduated, and wanted to celebrate by getting a big beach house together and hitting this festival. I asked my mom for tickets to it for Christmas, as did all of my friends because we were your classic broke high schoolers.
The first day was so exciting because I had never been in that type of atmosphere. I’d always wanted to be a legitimate artist, so for me to be there watching all of these acts was so surreal. The first set I saw was ‘Bryce Vine’ and it was legitimately some of the best & most impactful 30 minutes of my life. In that half-hour, I swear to god a flame just built up inside of me then. The whole crowd sang his songs back to him and everyone swayed their hands back and forth. I was looking around at everything trying to take it all in, recording everything that I could but still trying to stay in the moment. It was incredibly inspiring watching Bryce command that crowd.
After the set, we enjoyed the rest of the festival for the next two days, but as I said, that flame inside of me pushed me to put myself out there and make TikToks for the public, just start doing anything related to music. Fast forward a couple of years, I have 50 million streams across a couple of songs, my dream is coming true & I’m at a Tai Verdes show in LA because we’re on the same label and got invited. After the show, we’re heading backstage to hang out & right in front of us is Bryce Vine. I go up to him and basically tell him this story and how he really lit this fire in me to be a real artist. It was so surreal; he was so nice. A couple of months later, things really became full-circle when I got booked to play “Hangout Festival” in 2022, my first big show and festival performance. I can’t even fathom how much this means to me. I know it’s not the biggest festival in the world, but for me, it’s where all of this started. I really do believe if it weren’t for that festival, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
