The hard rock/metal band, Kobra and the Lotus, are currently on KISS’ “40th Anniversary Tour” with Def Leppard. While they are out on this tour, the band will be doing an exclusive blog for us. You can check out the fourth and final entry, with pictures, after the break.
Welcome back everyone!! This time we meet up in Tampa, Florida, the homeland of many legendary death metal bands and we felt the metal support!! As another great night of KISS confetti and rock and roll came to a wrap, we found ourselves almost losing the trailer off the back of the bus as we travelled on towards Virginia. For anyone who has spoken to us during our North American tours, we have a curse for loosing at least one trailer off its hitch every time.
Virginia made for another rowdy crowd followed by an awesome concert in New Jersey where we had our last hang out with Def Leppard . As Mrs. Helen Collen stood beside Phil (a total and complete bad ass btw) snapping some candid photos of us all. Vivian Campbell shared some epic tails of DIO past while Joe Elliott left us all with some inspirational stories of encouragement.
Then, show time! The stage in New Jersey was oriented towards an orchestra making for some interesting stage maneuvers…it felt like the audience was a mile away! But we still had a great time. Once this wrapped up we moved towards NYC. With a few days off, we flew back to Canada to get our touring visas renewed just on time for our first headlining show in the big apple. New York is a one of a kind city full of culture and life and we couldn’t have asked for a better first headlining gig! Great people and great bands!!
Moving on for the second last KISS show, we took off towards Boston. It was here the Def Leppard crew pulled the ultimate prank on us as they proceeded to take our gear off piece by piece as we played the last song in our set. We had no idea what was going on but we kept given’r hell as they dismantled our drummer’s kit one cymbal at a time. By the end of the song, all cymbals were removed, most of the guitar cabinet wall was gone, the monitor wedge was taken out from under our Bass player’s foot and the kit was left with nothing but two floor toms and a snare.
This great night came to a close with a final quick visit with the monsters of KISS and some photos to remember.
Rollin on it was time for some more tight, intense, sweaty, good ol fashioned metal shows where we once again got to tear through our entire new album at some kick ass headlining gigs including one with our beloved Max Cavaleras’ Soulfly.
Our final KISS/Def Leppard concert came far too soon…on August 12th in our homeland of Canada! Time has flown and it is unfathomable to think that the tour is over. Makes us remember how important it is to live in the moment and savour every second of this beautiful life we have to live!! We had the time of our lives on this tour! We learned a lot individually and as musicians and performers. We met such fabulous people all along the way, and we made some good friends inside the KISS/Leppard camps.
We miss everyone already!! We’d like to give a huge thank you to ALL of you amazing people we have met along the way on this tour. Massive thanks to KISS, Def Leppard for inviting us on this tour and to both of their amazing crews. It’s been a once in a lifetime opportunity. We won’t forget this one!!
Hope to see you all out on the road at a show!! HORNZ!
