The rock band, Message to Venus, is currently on the “Pushing ‘The Envelope’ Tour”. While they’re on this tour, they will be blogging for us. You can check out their sixth and final entry (with pictures) written by the band’s lead singer, Jandre Nadal, after the break.
“Luxury continues as we enter Altoona, Pennsylvania. A nice place called Aldo’s. This is how you treat your guest. You greet them with a smile, you pay them up front, and you give them some good food with no restrictions and then that lovely bar tab. We played a great gig. Sold some merch and made new fans.
We then go north to Connecticut, the hometown of our friends from Novus Dae to play a place called Bleachers in Bristol CT. A very nice sports bar with good looking waitresses. We played a great set and sold lots of merch. We got to hang with our friends from Novus Dae, drank like sailers. Tim, the drummer, and his girl Stephanie were nice enough to let us crash at their house. We rested re-strung our guitars, jammed some percussion with Tim and his collection of exotic instruments.
Both bands then continued south towards New Jersey. We get to a place called Architekt Music, this place is a professional recording studio, live venue and rehearsal space. No booze but all ages welcome. Also known for Sevendust and other great bands to have worked and played here. Novus Dae broke the ice, then Statik Silence, we played our asses off, then Dead Fish Handshake closed what was the last official gig for this tour. It’s cool to see so many people interested in your music and actually listening to all details. Then going to the merch booth to greet and support.

After the show we went to some Irish pub and had some good drinks with my friends Mike and Kati and the boys from Dead Fish Handshake among other good people we met that night. We drank, laughed and shared our tour moments. We then headed to Brooklyn and hung out at Mike and Kati’s loft.
One more gig to go! Next day we drive to Long Island to play at Evolution Sound Stage in West
Babylon, NY. Organized by our good friend from Puerto Rico, Salchi. So good to see familiar faces! The first band was called Mourning Rain, a power trio with 70’s and 90’s grunge sound. Then Salchi’s band The Lost played with powerful drumming and Nirvana style vocals and guitar. It was cool to see both bands having girl bassists. It’s funny because everytime we see a chick musician playing in a band we bet that she’s the girl of one of the other musicians, and as usual we are right. Both bands played very well. This venue was also a rehearsal space for big acts with a concert style set up. We sold a shit load of merch and had our last dinner with John’s brothers and family and some friends who went all the way to NY to see us. Such a treat! Now we just need to find the energy to start our last drive.
We decided to be road warriors, to pair shift change for this fucking 28 hour drive. John and I took the night shift making almost 10 hours. We had nothing but 26oz coffee in our bodies, we were shaking like crack heads, then at 10am JuanMa and Edgar took over. Of course we had to stop and eat something in Georgia at Edgar’s parents pad. They hooked us up with some delicious homemade Puerto Rican food, leaving us only 9 hours away from home. After all this, we’re going to miss Jodie our van so much. We will miss those rest stops and sleeping next to each other. We will miss the can food and beef jerky and dry cereal in the mornings. We will miss all the new fans and friends we have made. Our musician brothers from other mothers, the great gigs and the bad ones. So many lessons learned. 10,448 miles later we finally reach the end of this first tour. That 28 hour drive from Long Island, NY to Miami, FL was just brutal!
But this is just the beginning. Now we find ourselves already planning the next tour. Getting ready to release the new album and perform it live. Thanks for reading the blogs and glad to share our adventures with you all. Thanks to Digital Tour Bus for having us and thanks to all the new friends and fans made during this epic journey. See you soon!” -Jandre
